Broadband Intervention

This piece was written and submitted to me from one of our regular readers.    It highlights some concerns in how government intervention has effected this particular industry.  Thank you "Common Sense" for your contribution.  Enjoy! “Change.”  A plurality of American voters asked for it last Fall, and that is exactly what we are [...]

The Critisism of U.S. Aid to Haiti

As America reaches out to help earthquake devastated Haiti, it drives me crazy that we find ourselves being critisized by certain other coutries that our aid is ingenuine. Americans have used text messaging (texting Haiti to 90999 donates $10 to the American Red Cross Disaster Releif) to raise more than $21 million.  The Red Cross reports [...]

Republicans to delay Senate health care vote! — UPDATED — UPDATED!

As the Senate draws closer to the ever important 60 votes to pass their health care reform, the opposition busts out parlimentary tactics to try to delay the vote.  One of the more recent Senators to hop on board with Democrats in favor of the health care bill is Sen. Bernie Sanders, Independent-Vermont.  He was allowed to add his 767-page [...]

Obama’s Job Creation Plan

President Obama recently praised the slowdown in the rising unemployment rate as a sign of economic improvement, not mentioning that the majority of the hiring in the past month has been to seasonal jobs that won't be around by the middle of January.  And now, on the tails of the job summit, where left-wing organizations, including liberal [...]

Outrageous News!

This first bit of news got me fired up.  Ashley Payne, a Georgia school teacher was forced to resign over pictures of her with a glass of wine and the use of the word "bitch" on her Facebook page.  She claims that the page was set to private and is unsure how the school's administrator even found out about it.  They origionally said it was the [...]

Call for action — Get H.Res.554 to a vote!

As the debate over health care reform rages on, the democratic leadership is rewriting a bill in a closed door forum and it is likely that it will be brought to a vote very soon.  Like the $787 billion stimulus plan, it is expected that this too will be rushed through Congress before anyone gets a chance to actually read or understand what all [...]

Daily Right 9/16/09

Former Pres. Jimmy Carter told NBC Nightly News, we are all racist for not supporting policy put forth by the Obama administration. "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American," So, according to Mr. Carter, we would [...]

Extreme Environmentalists culprits in L.A. wildfires

Extreme Environmentalists culprits in L.A. wildfires

We've seen the smoke here in western Colorado from the large wildfire (Station Fire) burning in the hills above Los Angeles.  It is not yet known the cause of the fire but one thing that has helped the fire propagate and made it extremely difficult to get under control is the around 40 years worth of thick dry underbrush throughout the [...]

New policies to affect ammunition resalers!

Recently brought to my attention; thanks Tribwarrior; new policies will not allow ammunition manufacturers to purchase 1-shot ammunition casings from the DoD.  Instead, the brass will now be shreaded and sold as scrap metal, mostly to China, at a lower price than the ammunition manufacturers were paying for them.  Read the full story on The [...]

The Funnies!

The Funnies!

When we heard last year that we could have our first black president, some said, "Yeah, when pigs fly!"  Now 100 days into the new president's administration, swine flu!!! --- The real culprit... Enjoy! -TF

Tea Party in G.J.

Tea Party in G.J.

Tax Day, time for a tea party!  Quite a crowd gathered today at Lincoln Park for the tea party.  Speakers including Rick Wagoner, 9/12 volunteer Jennifer Baily, Gordon Byers and Doug Thompson spoke to a large group of folks displaying signs including "Give me Liberty, Not Debt" and "Only a Politician would try to SPEND their way out of DEBT".  [...]

DHS warns of ‘Rightwing Extremism’

This is scary!  Originally posted here at the Liberty Papers, the Department of Homeland Security has unclassified a report characterizing an uprising of rightwing extremism.  According to the report, rightwing extremism is described as Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents [...]

Interesting Headlines

Another Czar...it seems in light of the April Fool's worm scare, the senate has introduced legislation to strenghten cybersecurity.  I don't know about anyone else, but it annoys me everytime something like this happens, the government solution seems to be, 'let's create another White House position to deal with it'.  Why can't these kinds of [...]

News Roundup 3-12-09

Stocks rally today!  In the largest 3-day gain since November today's 240 point jump brings the 3-day total to a positive 622 points. This week's rally got an extra dose of adrenaline after an accounting board told Congress Thursday it may recommend a let-up in accounting rules for troubled banks in three weeks. Banks have been dogging the [...]

EFCA could appear before Senate this week.

The Employee Free Choice Act could be brought to a vote in the Senate this week.  As several key Senators have not vocally taken a stand on the bill, it is unsure whether there will be enough support to pass this bill. The bill, in very similar form, was brought up back in 2007.  It passed in the House but failed in the Senate [...]

International Concerns (UPDATED)

There were several stories updated today that are of some concern to me over how fragile international relationships currently are.  Could these be the tests that Vice Pres. Biden referred to leading up to the election, or are these just international tensions that have been brewing and are now coming to head?  In any case, the response to [...]

More News

President Obama faces some opposition from his own party, A dozen of them were among 20 House Democrats who voted against the $410 billion discretionary fiscal 2009 spending package (HR 1105) on Feb. 25. Another group later forced House leaders to sideline a contentious bill (HR 1106) to allow bankruptcy judges to modify home loans. Although [...]

Couple news stories that caught my eye!

House Democrats on a spending spree...less than a week after the $787 billion stimulus package passes, WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with [...]

Will it stimulate?

Will it stimulate?

In response to thrashbluegrass’s request for those of us opposed to the stimulus package to point out some shortcomings in the American Recovery and Reinvestment act, I have compiled this post.   First off, I haven’t had the time to read the stimulus package in full, similar to most of the lawmakers in Washington before they voted on it but [...]

Stimulus Bill to be voted on today.

In breaking a promise to Americans that the stimulus bill would be available for 48 hours before being voted upon (no surprise here), In a press conference Thursday, the House Republican leadership spoke candidly about being kept out of the House-Senate conference on the Obama-Pelosi-Reid so-called “economic stimulus” bill. They confirmed [...]

Have we learned nothing?

With the recent release of the rest of the TARP money, Geithner has decided to put the money where the bad mortgages are, according to the New York Post... ...sources familiar with the plan say Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner plans to allocate almost half of the remaining $350 billion in funds from the Trouble Asset Relief Program to the [...]

Bush Commutes Border Guards

On his last day in office, Bush commutes the two border guards who shot and wounded a man that, at the time, they suspected to be a drug smuggler. Compean and Ramos were convicted of shooting admitted drug smuggler Osvaldo Aldrete Davila in the buttocks as he fled across the Rio Grande, away from an abandoned van load of marijuana. He remains [...]

“Pay-to-Play”?

There is some contraversy surrounding Hilary Clinton just as she appears before the Senate confirmation panel for her acceptance of Secretary of State. The AP reported Tuesday that Clinton intervened at least six times in government issues directly affecting companies and others that later contributed to her husband's foundation. The AP [...]

Europe’s gas supply from Russia cut off.

Thousands are without heating as Russia and Europe try to negotiate and end to the gas cutoff. The BBC reports: Ten of thousands of homes in Europe have been left with no heating, a situation which the European Commission has described as completely unacceptable. ... On Wednesday, heating systems shut down in some parts of central [...]

Sarah Palin Interview.

Sarah Palin Interview.

John Ziegler interveiws Sarah Palin about the media coverage of her family. If someone told me five months ago that in early January I would pay over $1,400 for an incredibly inconvenient plane ticket and $120 for a 3 a.m. cab fare to get from sunny Los Angeles to Wasilla, Alaska, I would have told them there was a better chance the Dow Jones [...]

Hezbollah escalates tensions for Isreal.

More disconcerting news from the Middle East as Hezbollah decides to join the fight. JERUSALEM (AP) - Lebanese militants fired at least three rockets into Israel early Thursday, threatening to open a new front for the Jewish state as it pushed forward with a bloody offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed nearly 700 people. Two people [...]
