Happy Quantum Birthday

BirthdayFirst off, I want to thank our resident lefty for reminding me of the one year anniversary of Quantum Conservative, and you, our readers, for sticking with us this long.  This blog was started on election night 2008, with TF, Double Agent, and I drunk blogging the results from our favorite local pub.  There is a funny, and sad, story from that night that I would like to share with you.

The pub in question runs a quiz game every Tuesday, and that particular week all of the questions were (not surprisingly) all about the election.  The three of us participated while posting state returns, and won, big time.  I believe the spread was something like 40 points over the second place team [Ok, so it was 20 something plus points, thanks TF for the fact check].  This was funny, since we were playing only half-heartedly and barely paying attention to the game, and sad, because the sheer level of ignorance from our competitors made our victory Pyrrhic at best.

Did I mention we were the only McCain supporters in the room?

I drew certain conclusions from that night that the past year has only reinforced, namely that President Obama won the election because of his emotional appeal, not because he was the superior candidate.  Most of his supporters were ignorant of the most basic facts regarding Obama, his past, and his associations.  The names of  Bill Ayers, ACORN, and Alinsky meant nothing to them, nor were they aware of his votes in favor of infanticide, his relationship with the openly communist Frank Marshall Davis as a young man, his knack for getting political opponents removed from the ballot, etc. ad nauseam.  To the people in the bar that night, and I suspect, many like them across this great nation, Obama was young and cool and McCain was old and square and that was it.  In with the Hope and Change and out with the centrist RINO.

The cheerleading the Obama campaign received from traditional media outlets was probably the single biggest reason we started this blog.  As educated, well informed voters we were appalled by the ignorance of our fellow citizens, and outraged that so much of this information was just ignored by the MSM.  I have problems with drive by citizens, those who pay little to no attention to the business of the Republic until 2 days before election, but I have major issues with the so-called 4th estate willfully deluding the American people to pull their favorite horse across the finish line.  Hence, Quantum Conservative and the new conservative revolution.

This is a post about Quantum Conservative’s one year anniversary, where we’ve been and where we are going.  We started with small, somewhat snarky posts about the major stories of the day, eventually adding features such as the Daily Round Up and Daily Dose of Awesome.  In the future, we will be adding more original content, hopefully with one new Op-Ed per day, and streamlining the site to be more efficient and more user friendly.  For this we need writers, readers, and concerned citizens of all stripes to join us.  We are at a critical juncture in our nations history my friends, and as Charles Krauthammer reminds us so eloquently, decline is a choice.  I choose life for this Republic, for the liberties enshrined in it’s founding documents, and for the new conservative revival.

Won’t you join me?
