*Tell the Government: Out of Our Light, by Matt Patterson.

“After Alexander the Great had conquered Greece, he was besieged by visitors; businessmen, politicians and scholars came from across the Greek isles to kiss the ring of the new king, and to wish him well on his coming Persian campaigns.

But Diogenes, the famous Cynic philosopher, was not among the supplicants.  So Alexander sought him out, and found Diogenes lying in the sun.  Introducing himself as king of all the Greeks, Alexander asked if there was anything he could grant.

“Yes,” replied Diogenes.  “You can get out of my light.”

Alexander was so taken by this response that he was heard to remark, as he left the philosopher to his sun-bath, “If I were not Alexander, I would be Diogenes.”

Thus the famous Cynic told the man who offered him anything that he already had everything — his freedom…

…Diogenes refused Alexander’s favors because he knew they came with a price – fealty to the king.  Let us take our motto from Diogenes.  Let us tell our government:  Remove yourself from our light.”

*The White House WANTS YOU, to rat out your neighbors.

““There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end-of-life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain e-mails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an e-mail or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to kgb@whitehouse.gov.”

Alright, so I changed the email address, but everything else is exactly how it appears at WhiteHouse.gov.  Nixon had nothing on this egomaniac, that’s for sure.

*Another congressman admits malfeasance:

“Regarding critics who argue that lawmakers do not even read the bills they are voting on, Hodes said it’s not realistic to expect members of Congress to read every bill word-for-word, as Congress took more than 2,000 votes in the session that ended in December.”

It’s your fucking job dude.  If the bill is too big to read and understand, then it is a bad law.

*What do you do when faced with intense, even angry constituent backlash over your failure to do your job, as our representatives have experienced since the August recess?  (See yesterdays post for videos). For the Dems its: blame the GOP, paint the protestors as birther type racists who are all on the payroll of big pharma and the health insurance industry, and have the entire MSM monstrosity pick up the meme and run with it.  This was from the DNC:

“Republicans and their allied groups — desperate after losing two consecutive elections and every major policy fight on Capitol Hill – are inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists funded by K Street Lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of health care in America taking place in Congressional Districts across the country.”

Michelle Malkin kindly shows what true mob rule looks like.

“This intraparty smackdown is all the more remarkable because, by winning in swing or GOP-heavy districts and states, these Members have given Democrats their governing majorities. If there’s a voter backlash in 2010, these Members will also be the first to be washed out to sea. Yet it’s becoming clearer by the day that Democratic leaders view these moderates as mere cannon-fodder footsoldiers in the great liberal revolution of 2009. And if you have to shoot a couple of them yourself to keep them all marching straight, so be it.”

*Just great.  Russian nuclear subs spotted off the east coast of the US, their first appearance in over 15 years.

*Your Daily Dose of Awesome: Crisis of Confidence: America’s Government Losing Faith With Out-of-Touch Constituents, by Iowahawk.

“…with the inauguration of President Obama in January, there was an optimistic sense that the era of Big Voter was finally over.

Sadly, that brief shining Camelot in Washington has suddenly been replaced by a new Dark Ages, with hordes of placard- and plague-carrying voter vermin pouring up from the sewers of our home districts, threatening us and our very re-elections. Across Washington, hundreds of everyday legislators and consultants are paralyzed by fear, wondering where these these intrusive bubonic boobs will strike next.”
