I'm not sure but I think that was probably what they were trying to say. first of all the burqa is a symbol of oppression for womens rights. so in banning it they would be in essence banning the oppression of womens rights. However; I understand what you're trying to say. One of the funniest photos I ever saw was of one women in a burqa taking a photo of three other women in burqas, all wore the same color. The caption read "What's the point"

I have a real problem with suggestions about banning the wearing of the burqa in the US. I don't do so out of some weak-kneed desire to promote multi-culturalism, but does anyone think that if we censor the burqa it will stop there? If we did so, anyone would have a legitimate claim on squealing for a ban on any symbol they find offensive. It would be far more appropriate to ensure that muslim women feel safe in declining to wear such attire should they choose to do so. It may come as a surprise to Mona Charon or any other incredulous woman raised in Western society, but some women do actually want to wear this clothing. The primary point though, should be to ensure that it is indeed their choice- not society's, not their husband's or other family member's, not anyone's but their own.
