News Round Up 05/13/09

*Even the EPA admits that CO2 is not a pollutant.  The leaked internal memo also shows that Cap and Trade will have “serious economic consequences,” read: $1400 to $4000 PER HOUSEHOLD in additional spending.  Don’t worry though; the Dems still plan on having the legislation out of committee by Memorial Day.

*The Empty Symbolism of Hate Crime Legislation, by Steve Chapman at Reason.

*Katz and Dogs, by Jonah Goldberg.  Kind of a sappy article, but the Quantum Fiancé and I are buying a house, and the topic of what kind of dog to buy has been on my mind more and more.  After renting for years, the ability to adopt my own pup seems like the hallmark of home ownership.  And, truth be told, I’m just now ready to move on after the death of my childhood dog Skippy.  Yeah it was over ten years ago, but he was a damn good mutt, and set a pretty high bar.  Where else will I find a friend who does nothing but sleep and eat all day?  And the guy living in Double Agents basement doesn’t count, not furry enough.

*Your Daily Dose of Awesome: Letter of Amends From a Recovering Liberal in Berkeley.

“Suddenly a light went on. The peace and love and flower power of the old left was dead and gone (if it even existed to begin with except in my imagination). The Democrats had morphed into a power hungry Thought Police, and I was done with them. My new motto in life: don’t PC on me.”
