*Congratulations to Maine for handling a difficult issue through it’s legislative branch, rather than by judicial fiat. Oh Federalism, Federalism, wherefore art thou Federalism…
*The Internet Saved My Tongue: How I Beat Canada’s ‘Human Rights’ Censors, by Ezra Levant. Here is a brief history for those of you who are unfamiliar with this case. Ezra Levant was the editor of the Canadian conservative magazine The Western Standard. In support of western liberalism generally and the freedom of speech specifically, he made an editorial decision to re-print the Dutch Muhammad cartoons that sparked such outrage in the Muslim world (months after they were initially published, by the by). He was then slapped with a human rights complaint for “discriminating” against Islam, and hauled before our northern neighbors kangaroo courts human rights commission. The human rights commission, at least before Mr. Levant, had a 100% conviction rate. He eventually beat the charges. Read the whole thing, please.
RELATED: If you haven’t seen his verbal bitch slap of the commissar in charge of his prosecution, you are missing a thing of beauty. Watch it here. You can read the transcript here.
RELATED II: In support of free speechers everywhere, here are the cartoons that got him in so much trouble:

*Wow. Just, wow. The White House is trying to force Israel to give up its nuclear arsenal because, and this is the wow part, Israel is asking for action against Iran before they get the nuke. (H/T Hot Air).
RELATED: Breaking Faith With Israel, by the Editors at the Washington Times.
*Heh. Obama uses Air Force one to buzz Manhattan, scaring the bejeezus out of New Yorker’s who rightfully flashed back to 9/11, for a photo op. Those photos are now classified. The most transparent administration evah!
*Pompous New York “conservative” David Brooks totally misses the point of Westerns.
“Today, if Republicans had learned the right lessons from the Westerns, or at least John Ford Westerns, they would not be the party of untrammeled freedom and maximum individual choice. They would once again be the party of community and civic order.”
Will Wilkinson delivers the smack down I wish I had written:
“Where is this Republican Party of “untrammeled freedom and maximum individual choice”? Did Ron Paul just become House minority leader or take Michael Steele’s job or something? Have the Republicans put up the white flag in the War on Drugs? Are GOP Senators stumping to end the legislation of morality? How did I miss this?”
*Obama’s Prosecution by Proxy, by John Bolton.
*Bullies Not Governors, by Amity Shlaes.
*Obama’s Global Tax Raid, at the WSJ.
*Your Daily Dose of Awesome: Arachnophobia, Australian style. Giant Bird-Eating tarantulas are invading small towns.
“…the eastern tarantulas are venomous and can grow up to 6cm (2.4in) long with a leg span of 16cm (6.3in). Despite their common name, they do not eat birds, but can kill a dog with one bite, and make a human very sick.
They are also known as whistling or barking spiders for the hissing noise they emit when they are disturbed or aggravated at close range.” If that doesn’t freak you out, here is a picture:
Sweet dreams sucka’s
