Tax Day, time for a tea party!  Quite a crowd gathered today at Lincoln Park for the tea party.  Speakers including Rick Wagoner, 9/12 volunteer Jennifer Baily, Gordon Byers and Doug Thompson spoke to a large group of folks displaying signs including “Give me Liberty, Not Debt” and “Only a Politician would try to SPEND their way out of DEBT”.  One gentleman I spoke with said he was there because he is a retired individual on a fixed income and he was not going to be able to afford the impending inflation that he believed was coming with the current spending practices of the government.  I think the attitude of most people there was that they are fed up with the enormous amount of spending recently and the massive growth of government currently.  Setting aside partisanship, this rally was not about Democrats versus Republicans; most people that I visited with understood that the current spending trend that has increased the debt by over $10 trillion over the last 6 months took two presidents and congresses.  This rally was not about taxes, it was about the government being out of control.  I felt that the atmosphere today was very positive and that most people honestly believe that we can make a difference and that the current trend is not irreversible, but the message has got to get heard soon!
