Interesting Headlines

Another Czar…it seems in light of the April Fool’s worm scare, the senate has introduced legislation to strenghten cybersecurity.  I don’t know about anyone else, but it annoys me everytime something like this happens, the government solution seems to be, ‘let’s create another White House position to deal with it’.  Why can’t these kinds of tasks be overseen by one of the existing departments rather than creating another Czar?  Makes me wonder why we have such a huge deficit.

the legislation also calls for the appointment of a White House cybersecurity “czar” with unprecedented authority to shut down computer networks

This one really makes me angry; tax cheat Tim Geithner talks about possibly pressuring other CEO’s to leave if they don’t comform to his idea of ‘acceptable restructering.’  It really gets me riled up when our government feels like they should have to power to tell a company who should and shouldn’t run the operations because they think they know what’s best for them.

When asked if he would leave open the option to pressure a bank CEO to resign, Geithner replied: “Of course.”

An old debate in the light again…renewable energy vs. environmentalists.  Personally, I’m on the green energy side of this debate.  I liked the looks of the wind generators, and I can’t see the solar panels causing a huge impact ot the desert eco-system.  Hey, the tortoises could use some extra shade!

a proposal to install three clusters of 50,000 solar mirrors has prompted anxiety over the fate of endangered tortoises.

And, on the amusing side of the headlines, are they really serious about banning black cars, I can garuntee that after a hot day on the golf course or at the mall, it doesn’t matter what color your car is, that a/c is going on high!  I don’t beleive this idea has a chance in hell (pun intended) of actually making a difference, but it is rather amusing.

Apparently, when the proper pigments and chemicals are added to black paint, the resulting color is currently being referred to as “mud-puddle brown.”
