The Employee Free Choice Act could be brought to a vote in the Senate this week. As several key Senators have not vocally taken a stand on the bill, it is unsure whether there will be enough support to pass this bill.
The bill, in very similar form, was brought up back in 2007. It passed in the House but failed in the Senate 51-48. The vote was basically split along party lines;
Every Senate Democrat and two independents stood behind labor, and among the Republicans, only Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) broke ranks.
I am opposed to this bill taking away the rights of an employee to a secret ballot vote and giving the labor unions another tool in which to coerce and intimidate employees into joining a union. With the speculation of this bill being reintroduced this week, please contact our senators and ask them not to support this bill in it’s current form.
